AMMAN, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Jordan stressed Thursday that the two-state solution is the sole way to resolving the decade-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The remarks were made during a meeting between Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adnan Jundi, director general of Jordan's intelligence department, and Saeb Erekat, the secretary general of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's Executive Committee.
"The talks are part of coordination between Jordan and Palestine to deal with all developments related to the Palestinian issue," Jordan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Jordan and Palestine warned against the serious consequences of the stalemate in peace efforts, adding that the region will not enjoy peace or stability without a lasting and just solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that realizes a legitimate Palestinian state and freedom on its national soil.
They said that the two-state solution that entails the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital is the sole solution to the conflict.
The two sides called on the international community to take a swift action to push forward peacemaking efforts in line with the UN resolution, calling for pressure on Israel to cease all unilateral Israeli measures that undermine peace efforts.
